Theodor Herzl (1860 to 1904) died before he could see the creation of the modern state of Israel, but he is considered one of the country's founding fathers. Streets, schools, and national memorials are named for him, and he's appeared on Israeli stamps and coins.
This coin is one of several gold collector Herzl coins; it was issued in 1960, commemorating Mr. The frame, circa 1960, is in 14 karat rose gold.
It's has an openwork scalloped pattern and a triangular, fluted bale. The coin is held in place by a perimeter channel and back prongs. The black leather cord is included. It's 20 long, 2.8mm thick and has a brass bayonet closure.Total pendant weight: 14.8 grams. Coin weight : 8 grams of 90% (21.6K) gold.
Pendant weight : 6.8 grams of 14K gold. Coin dimensions : 26mm (just over 1.0) & 0.8mm thick. Pendant dimensions (including bale): 48mm (1-7/8") long x 39mm (1-1/2") wide. Marks : The coin is marked "(0.900)" on the back for 90% gold. The bale of the frame is stamped "14K".
Condition : The coin is in excellent condition. One of the prongs on the frame has been replaced and there is some soldering schmutz left over from this repair. It's pretty subtle (see photo to judge for yourself) and Eytan is worried that if he tries to drill out the leftover metal, the prong will just fall off again, so we're leaving it as-is.
